Birth Story Listening with Nicole Pasveer
Sometimes something from birth stays with you
A moment.
A question.
A feeling.
A part that still bugs the shit out of you.

While we can't change what happened, we can change our relationship to it.
Imagine noticing something different
→ That one moment no longer feels so sticky
→ Seeing yourself with kinder eyes
→ Untangling what you've made it mean about yourself
→ Walking away carrying your story differently
Maybe you've caught yourself thinking
"I should be over this by now..."
"What would have happened if..."
"Nothing bad happened, but something still feels off..."
"I know why it happened... but why am I still bothered by it?"
"My baby is healthy... so why do I still feel sad, angry or disappointed?"
You're in the right place
You don't need to know why you're still thinking about your birth.
You just need to notice that you are.
You may have told the story 100 imes.
This is a chance to revisit it differently. You don't need to remember when your water broke or even what happened in what order.Think of this less like telling me what happened from beginning to end and more like finally opening that closet you've been shoving things into for months (or years)! The moments you remember vividly. The ones you barely remember at all. The thing someone said. The thing nobody said. The decision you still question. The feeling that doesn't make logical sense. The random detail you didn't think mattered until suddenly... apparently it fucking does.Nothing needs to be organized before you get here. We'll sit together in the mess, notice what catches our attention, and start picking up the pieces that seem to be asking for a closer look.
we can let it all tumble out.

What happens during a session?
We'll meet on Zoom from wherever in the world you are. Bring a warm drink, wear the comfy pants, curl up under a blanket (or whatever helps you feel cozy). I'll certainly have tea, too!You don't need to prepare your story, remember every detail, bring a journal, or take notes. You just need to show up.We'll spend about 90–120 minutes together. You'll give me a little context about your birth, and then rather than trying to unpack the whole thing at once, we'll slow it waaaaay down.We might sit with one moment. One interaction. One decision. One feeling you can't quite shake.I'll listen deeply, ask thoughtful questions, reflect back what I'm hearing, and follow the threads that seem to have some energy behind them. Together, we'll get curious about why that moment stayed with you—and the stories, beliefs, or meanings that may have quietly attached themselves to it.Because birth can leave behind a whole swirl of conflicting feelings and general emotional clusterfuckery. You can be wildly grateful AND deeply disappointed.Relieved AND grieving.Proud of yourself AND pissed off about what happened.Know that something was necessary AND still hate the way it happened. There is room for all of it here.We don't need to tidy it up, find the silver lining, or turn it into a pretty little redemption story that your nervous system will call bullshit on.Instead, we'll follow the sticky bits that still tug at you...exploring why they've stayed, what they came to mean about you, and what you can see now that you couldn't see from inside the experience.
Whose stories belong here?
Yours if any of these sound like you:✓ There's moments from a birth that still pop into your head
✓ You're grateful for what went right AND grieving what didn't
✓ You logically understand what happened but can't quite make sense of how you feel about it
✓ You've told the story before, yet still feel like something hasn't been fully heard
✓ Maybe it was your birth—whether your baby is 12 weeks, 12 years, or 32 years old. Or maybe you’re a doula, nurse, midwife, or other birthworker carrying something from a birth you witnessed.
Why does this matter?
We make meaning from our experiences. That meaning influences how we understand ourselves. And the stories we hold about ourselves inevitably shape how we show up...In motherhood. In our relationships. In how we make decisions and ask for what we need. In the stories about birth we pass between friends, our children, and the people coming after us.And for birthworkers, what we carry from one birth can shape how we enter the next room.So no, I can't promise a tidy transformation or a reclaimed goddess identity. But you might walk away...
Understanding why it stuck.
Seeing something you couldn't see before.
Feeling differently about the version of you who lived it.The birth doesn't change. But what you carry forward might.
But was my birth even “bad enough”?
One of the most common things I hear is: "Nothing bad happened... I just can't stop thinking about it."You don't need a traumatic birth story.
You don't need a diagnosis.
You don't need to convince me—or yourself—that it was bad enough. If something still feels unfinished, that's enough to be curious about.
About nicole
Oh hi!!! 👋 I'm Nicole.
Over the years, I've learned that birth is rarely just about birth...Somewhere between the contractions, decisions, interventions, relationships, expectations, and sheer intensity of it all, we make meaning about what happened—and sometimes, about who we are because of it.My role isn't to tell you what your birth means. Using Pam England's Birth Story Medicine listening process, I'll ask thoughtful questions, listen deeply, notice the threads, and help you untangle the knots... while you get curious about what you find there.I'm a mom, nurse, prenatal educator, Birth Story Medicine listener, and current Master's student in Counselling Psychology.Basically, you bring the story. I'll bring the questions, curiosity, and probably a cup of tea.

A few things to know
• Sessions are held virtually over Zoom. You'll receive the link in your confirmation email.
• Please allow approximately 90–120 minutes for your session and do your best to create a quiet, uninterrupted space. If you're parenting young children, I kindly ask that childcare be arranged so you can be fully present with your story.
• Tears, laughter, silence, long pauses, and wild tangents are VERY welcome.
• Whether your baby is twelve weeks old or twelve years old, you're in the right place
• This is NOT psychotherapy or counselling.
Birth Story Listening is a reflective listening process. While our conversations can be deeply meaningful, this session is not intended to diagnose or treat mental health concerns or replace medical or mental health care. If I believe another type of support would better serve you, I'll let you know with care.
Whatever your birth story holds...
You don't have to carry it alone anymore.
I'd be honoured to sit with you.
Whenever you're ready.
